Javier Velazquez

Javier has been doing Pilates for over 40 years. He has practiced under many trainers, from the classical styles to the contemporary ones, before they were called that way.

He studied for years with 4 of Joseph’s students. He did his teacher training as a protégé of Romana Kryzanowska, and apart from Romana, he also sought the knowledge of the original students of Joseph like Mathilde Klein, Mary Bowen and Sari Mejia. Since 2004 he has been researching the methodology, the equipment and the exercises and has been teaching it fully since.

He has for a couple of decades separated from both the classical and contemporary approaches, since neither follows the original concepts and exercises. Apart from reconstructing all the original equipment and exercises and using them as originally intended, he is currently gathering all the information to share it in a organized manner with everyone. In the meantime, he has been happily sharing the information he has gathered in a lively and positive way.

Along with Pilates, Javier had a dancing career. He was a graduate of the Royal Ballet School and London Studio Center and danced with the companies Kol-u-Demama (Israel), The Israel Ballet and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam as a soloist/principal.
